How to Set Up IPTV on a Samsung or LG Smart TV
Install an IPTV player on a Samsung (Tizen) or LG (webOS) smart TV, add your Xtream or M3U details and fix the most common problems.
Samsung (Tizen) and LG (webOS) smart TVs can run IPTV with no extra hardware. Which apps are available depends on the TV model year and your country, so this guide covers the steps that apply to most sets. Device pages with more detail: Samsung and LG smart TV guide.
Before you start
- Connect the TV to your network, preferably with an Ethernet cable.
- Have your login details ready (Xtream Codes or M3U). See M3U vs Xtream Codes.
- Update the TV software in Settings.
Samsung (Tizen)
- Open the Apps panel and search for an IPTV player that supports your type of login.
- Install and open it.
- Some players identify the TV by its MAC address or a device ID. Find it in Settings, General, Network, Network Status (the path varies by model).
- Send that ID to your provider if the app needs the playlist attached to it, or enter your Xtream details if it asks for them.
- Restart the app and wait for the channels to load.
LG (webOS)
- Open the LG Content Store and search for an IPTV player.
- Install it, open it and choose how to add your list (Xtream login or playlist URL).
- Some apps show a device key or MAC address on first launch. Note it if your provider needs it.
- Load the channels and check the guide.
Troubleshooting
- Channels do not load. Check for typos in the server URL and the port. Restart the app and the TV.
- Black screen or no sound. Switch the player to a different decoder if the app offers one.
- Constant buffering. Use Ethernet, then see how to fix IPTV buffering.
- The guide is empty. See what an EPG is.
